For
professionals in numerous fields including management,
marketing, public relations, advertising, journalism,
broadcast media, and politics, communication skills
are the essential tools of their professional lives.
SIU's Business Communication concentration, offered at
the London Campus, is particularly appropriate for
students who wish to develop communication skills for
advertising, marketing, or public relations. The
36-credit, two semester program emphasizes practical
communication skills, both oral and written, necessary
for success in the business world. The international
emphasis of the program is found in all subject areas
covered and provides a valuable basis for those who
seek careers in international business.
Admission Requirements:
A bachelor's degree or its equivalent. No particular
field of undergraduate study is required. Students
should, however, have a good level of English language
skills, both spoken and written. English as a Foreign
Language courses are offered to prepare those students
who may need them for this program. TOEFL score of 550
is expected.
Graduation Requirements: In addition to the
graduation requirements for all graduate students
candidates for the MA in Communications with
Concentration in Business must complete the following:

A
minimum of 36 semester credits at the graduate level,
composed of the courses listed below or substitutes
approved by the Program Advisor.

A final
comprehensive examination or, subject to the decision
of the Program Advisor, a thesis requiring a formal
oral defense in lieu of the comprehensive examination.
The thesis is in addition to the 36 credit hour
requirement. Distance learning students may petition
to take the comprehensive exam in written form.
