Opening of Schiller International School at Wickham Court

The opening of any new school is exciting, truly a cause for celebration. But a school set in a Tudor manor house surrounded by sparkling gardens, stately lawns and expansive playing fields is special. It is made even more so by its dedication to small classes and highly individualized attention to all its students. And so it is with great pride that we announce the opening of a new international elementary and middle school at Wickham Court.

Commencing in September 2001, Schiller International School at Wickham Court will offer an excellent education to boys and girls from pre-kindergarten to eighth grade (ages 4-14). Designed to serve the needs of American, British, and expatriate children from around the globe, its international curriculum embraces the traditions of Western education and culture, and includes language arts, mathematics, reading, science, and social studies. Our children will also enjoy working with specialist teachers as they explore foreign languages, art, music/drama, PE, and, when necessary, English as a Second Language.

The secondary school (grades 9-12, ages 14-19) is based in central London, on the same campus as Schiller International University. The secondary school offers a complete American high school program. If students are successful in the high school, they will be automatically accepted into the first year of an undergraduate degree program at any Schiller International University campus. In London, AS, BA, BBA, MA and MBA degrees are offered.

IN LOVE WITH LEYSIN

There's never been a better time to visit Leysin than right now.

A thriving center for trendy sports, this pretty Swiss village has lent a real twist to the term "street credibility".

Whilst you're likely to get road raged by a tense tailback of high-tech commuters you might just want to watch out for those gangs of roller-blades and mountain bikes. If the bladers don't buzz you on Leysin's trademark hairpin bends, the bikers might just shave your head on their final flyover from mountain top to village bottom.

Snow, sun, rain, cloud - the mountains attract every kind of weather and incredibility it can all come together on the same day.

The College offers an impressive range of programs from the Schiller Academy high school preparatory program through the undergraduate AA, BA, BBA, and BS programs and on to the graduate MBA program. Not forgetting of course the CP Language Institutes specialising in English and French which run alongside the traditional College menu.

Emilio Sanchez visited Ingersheim, Germany

Ingersheim recently hosted Emilio Sanchez, who was highly ranked among world-class tennis professionals for many years, as high as 7th in the world as a singles player in the early 1990’s.  Emilio’s sister, Arantxa Shanchez-Vicario, formerly ranked number 1 among professional tennis players, is still highly ranked world-wide. It was a nice gesture from him to have personally come to visit Schiller's Vice-president Dr. Harald Leibrecht at the Ingersheim castle, Schiller's headquarters, to finalize the joint venture between the Tennis Academy of Sanchez and Schiller American High School.

The school is located in Barcelona, providing all teenagers and tennis sport's fans an opportunity to attend a first-class tennis school while studying for an American High School diploma. The Academia de Tennis Sánchez-Casal, located at the Open Sports Club, has invited Schiller American Academy to set up a full senior high school program on the same site.

Emilio and the International Tennis Academy Sánchez-Casal, also welcomed the Schiller's CP Language Institute on the site of the Open Sports Club, a 100,000 square meter country club just outside Barcelona. The tennis and language program runs throughout the year and is especially designed for all sport fans who want to practice their favorite sport while learning Spanish or English.

Students are officially registered at the Schiller Academy, Florida (U.S.A.)

Festivities in the Royal Palace in Bangkok marked the occasion (date) as the Queen of Thailand accepted an honorary degree from an independent American university. She later presided over a banquet attended by 80 persons prominent in Thai society.

Queen Sirikit received a doctorate of humane letters from the founder and president of Schiller International University, Dr. Walter Leibrecht. The British and American ambassadors to Thailand joined many other distinguished guests in the Throne Room of the palace to witness the ceremony. He said that the Queen's activities came to the attention of Schiller International University (SIU) last year when it concluded a cooperation agreement with Stamford University in Thailand. There are also many Thai students enrolled at SIU, which offers bachelor's and master's degrees in international business, hotel and tourism management, international relations and information technology.

Schiller International University was founded by Dr. Leibrecht 36 years ago. The institution's multinational environment is becoming increasingly attractive to Asian students, according to Dr. Leibrecht.
