BA (Hons) International
Business
Building Your MajorThe EBS degree offers over 300
possible pathways. Students tailor the main BA (Hons)
in International Business with a choice of one or
two languages, and by selecting a specific major.
The first three semesters comprise core business
subjects, covering key concepts in economics,
marketing, finance, management and international
business. Students will also study their language
options from the first semester.
During this time you will choose your Major. Your
personal tutor will be at hand to assist you in
this selection, you will also use knowledge gained
on the course and through your work experience to
select the major that complements your future
goals.
The choices you make will build on your greatest
strengths, and will offer your future employers
the special EBS London combination of skills and
experience.
The six areas in which you can take a Major are
Majors and Electives
Your chosen Major will drive your choice of
Electives while at EBS London and at one or more
of our partner Institutions abroad.
Your choice of electives during your degree
programme will help you specialise in particular
areas of interest. The course will evolve over
time, and electives may change due to new thought
and disciplines emerging in business education.
Undergraduate Work Experience
The
EBS work experience programme is more than just
experience of work. It is also about shaping
career choices, testing theoretical know-how, and
learning the cultural conventions and
sensitivities which are so important today. It's
also a lot of fun and can lead to life-long
friendships.
Classroom study and workplace experience form two
interlocking parts of the same continual process -
academic and practical development - building on
each other to realise your full potential.
Requirements
You
will work in real business situations for at least
36 weeks before you can graduate, although some of
our students choose to do more. This total is
usually divided into blocks of time between the
academic semesters and, depending on your chosen
Major and languages, it may be completed in up to
three countries.
Assessed Work Placement Option In addition to the
standard requirement of 36 weeks of work
placement, you may elect to replace one of the
Study Abroad semesters (semesters 4 & 5) with a
period of 4-5 months of assessed work placement
(Work Based Report).
This WBR is the equivalent of two Level 2 Study
Abroad electives, counting for 30 credits, and
will be assessed on the same basis as an Study
Abroad semester, gaining credits but with the
grade not being counted towards classification.
If you wish to elect to take this route through
the degree, you must inform the Course Leader by
the end of your first semester.
